Bangalore, Oct 27: In a sudden development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said it will keep its options open on forming a government to avert mid-term polls even as a section of JD (S) MLAs were trying to come to power once again in the state.

The BJP, which had been consistently seeking fresh elections to the Assembly after withdrawing support to the Kumaraswamy-led government, had now kept its options open for forming an alternative dispensation.

BJP State President D V Sadananda Gowda told newspersons here today that though there was no change in the stand taken by the party to go for fresh mandate, it was ready to form the government if any other party was willing to extend its support.

Stating that so far there had been no such proposal from any party, Mr Gowda said the BJP was closely watching the latest developments in the state and busy planning its strategies periodically.

Party leaders, including, Mr Venkaiah Naidu, were at a meeting to keep a close watch on the developments like former home minister M P Prakash going to New Delhi to meet Congress leaders in connection with forming a government.

However, the party had no plans to meet the Governor today, he clarified.
