Dera Chief granted bail

Ambala, Oct. 25, 2007 : A CBI court in Ambala, today granted bail to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief, accused of rape and murder.

Earlier the court on October 20 had extended his interim bail hearing till October 25. The Baba is accused of the murder of a driver and a journalist, besides a case of sexual harassment of a woman disciple. Meanwhile, the CBI has transferred all the three cases against the sect chief to a session court.

New Delhi, Feb 27: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the defeat of the Congress in the assembly polls in Punjab and Uttarakhand would have no bearing on the Centre as it was not a ''referendum'' against the UPA.''I am not saying there is no fallout. However, these elections have no bearing on the Centre'' as these were fought on state-specific issues, Dr Singh told reporters in Parliament House.UNI.....
