UP Cabinet approves financial assistance for MLAs' kin

Lucknow, Oct 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has decided to give financial assistance of Rs five lakh to the dependants of members of legislature in case of untimely demise of the latter.

A proposal in this regard was approved here, today, by the State cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati.

Earlier, there was no such provision and in order to incorporate this, a bill to amend the UP State Legislature (Receipt and pension of members), 1980 would be moved in the coming session of the state legislature beginning October 30, UP Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh said here today.
