Two-day global investors meet begins today

Indore, Oct 26 (UNI) A two-day global investors meet took off here today with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurating the meet.

Around 400 investors from across the country and overseas are attending the meet, targeted to rope in investment of nearly Rs one lakh crore, half from ther ADAG.

Mr Anil Ambani set the ball rolling making a courtsey call on the Chief Minister, promising investment in power, cement, technical education and BPO sectors in the state.

Gangtok, Oct 26 (UNI) Brisk polling is going on across 524 polling stations in the state for the Panchayat elections today. with around 35 to 40 per cent polling recorded in the first three hours. Kathmandu, Oct 26: The Nepali Congress (NC) has said it will go for voting on the Maoists proposals in the special session of Parliament, if the rebels do not withdraw them. The Maoists should withdraw the proposals registered in the interim parliament, demanding a proportional electoral system and proclamation of a republic, acting President of Nepali Congress (NC) Sushil Koirala said. Andhra Bank Q2 net up 3.2 pc at Rs 151.21 crore

New Delhi, Oct 26: Public sector Andhra Bank has reported a net profit of Rs 151.21 crore for the quarter ended September 30, an increase of 3.26 per cent as compared to Rs 146.43 crore during the same quarter last fiscal. The total income of the company rose by 86.59 per cent to Rs 1,183.41 crore for the quarter, as against Rs 882.52 crore for the same period in 2006, a company statement said.
