TFDPC to set up TSR rubber manufacturing unit in Tripura

Agartala, Oct 26 (UNI) The Tripura Forest Development and Plantation Corporation Limited (TFDPC) has sanctioned a modern rubber factory with Technical Specified Rubber (TSR) which would come up next month.

TFDPC officials said here today that the rubber sheet manufactured in latest TSR method had tremendous demand in international market and TFDPC set up the unit with a capacity of five tonne TSR with an investment of Rs 2.94 Crore at Takmacherra in south Tripura.

''Tripura would be the first state in Northeast, which will have TSR unit. At present 64 TSR units are functioning in India,'' said TFDPC General Manager Industrial Estate P K Das. He said the corporation would invest another Rs 8 crore in the unit for manufacturing cycle tyres, tubes, foam and tyre retarding unit.

He, however, said the state's first public private partnership (PPP) model under the forestry sector had been signed between TFDPC and two private entrepreneurs of Tripura for Art Common Facility Centre (CFC) for production of export oriented knocked down furniture from treated rubber wood. Infrastructure worth Rs 2 crore, including machineries worth Rs 1.5 crore was imported from Taiwan and China.

Besides, the corporation has buy back scheme for purchase of natural rubber produced from plantations owned by private individuals with a view to providing necessary marketing support and price protection, Mr Das added.

Tata Steel Q2 net up at 8.1 pc at Rs 1190.83 cr

New Delhi, Oct 26: Tata Steel Ltd today said its net profit increased by 8.1 per cent to Rs 1,190.83 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, as compared to Rs 1,101.49 crore for the corresponding period a year ago. Total income of the company increased by 11.4 per cent to Rs 4879.41 crore, as compared to Rs 4,379.51 crore for the same period in 2006, a company statement said. UNI.....

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Equally talented if not more, the younger brother of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar turned 71 today. The only son of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, Hridaynath was born on October 26, 1937. He is the younger brother of music icons Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. He is also brother to singers Ushatai and Meenatai. Hridaynath debuted his music career in 1955 with the Marathi film ''Akash Ganga''. He has also composed for Marathi films like ''Sansar''.....
