TCS launches new subsidiary TCS South Africa

Kolkata, Oct 26 (UNI) Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today announced that it was launching a new subsidiary, TCS South Africa, to expand its operations in the country.

South Africa is a key strategic market for the 29 billion-dollar Tata Group with the presence of multiple firms including Tata Motors, Tata Steel and VSNL.

The new subsidiary will help intensify this focus further and is in line with TCS' global strategy to have a direct presence in the countries in which it operates, company sources said.

The new subsidiary will help TCS bring its global best practices to help increase the competitiveness of South African business and the skill levels of IT professionals in South Africa.

TCS South Africa will have equity participation from BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) groups in South Africa to ensure a high level of social governance and localization of services and skills.

''We see South Africa as a key strategic market for TCS and also as a gateway to southern and central Africa. Through our own subsidiary, we will be well-placed to contribute to the economic growth of the country and its businesses by bringing in global best-practices and world-class technology solutions, Mr S Ramadorai, Chief Executive Officer and MD, Tata Consultancy Services, said.

He said the new model would help TCS make a greater contribution to the South African economy and help invest in skills and capabilities of its IT professionals by leveraging our world-class learning and development programmes.

SJVN walk-in interviews postponed due to polls

Shimla, Oct, 26 (UNI) The Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) Deputy General Manager V K Verma today announced that the interview for the post of electrical, civil, finance and accounts disciplines, ch scheduled to be held between November 2-7, have been postponed in view of Himachal Vidhan Sabha elections. The company had invited candidates for walk-in interviews vide press advertisement No. 51/07 published in various newspapers. However, in view of the declaration of elections the interviews scheduled have been postponed.....

Congress will regain in lost assembly seats: Bishat

Nahan, Oct 26 (UNI) The Congress will regain the assembly seats in the coming elections, which were lost last time due to presence of rebel candidates and fielding of weak nominees, said Congress observer for Sirmour district Virender Singh Bishat at Congress Bhawan here today. "Mr Bishat said indiscipline in party would not be tolerated and stern action would be taken against the rebel candidates." He said every party member had the right to apply for the party ticket and final.....

HP Congress invites BJP for open debate

Una, Oct, 26 (UNI) The State Congress spokesman O P Rattan today invited the BJP for an open debate on the issue of performance by the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh. Addressing media persons here today, he countered the BJP allegations that the four-and-a-half-year-long Congress tenure was marred with non-performance. Mr Rattan said hydel power generation had received a major boost during the period, while road network, health and education infrastructure had received a fillip during the said period......
