Silver, gold close higher on bullish global advices

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Both the precious metals today closed higher on strong advices from global and upcountry markets, with Silver gaining a whopping Rs 360 per kg and Gold up by Rs 115 per ten gm, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said.

Following are the closing rates of spot silver and gold: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade : Rs 18,760 (18,400) Gold (per 10 gm) Gold 99.5 purity standard mint : Rs 9,940 (9,825) Gold 99.9 purity pure gold : Rs 9,990 (9,875).

Paddy crops submerged in Delta region due to heavy rain

Thanjavur, Oct 26 (UNI) Paddy crops in more tha one lakh acres were submerged today due to water logging as heavy rain continued to lash the Cauvery delta districts of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam. The rain in the delta region was causing anxiety to farmers as transplantation of Samba and Thaladi paddy crops were already covered in most of the agricultural areas.
