Shah Rukh, Hrithik and Dhoom:2 strike gold at LYCRA MTV Award

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and makers of the smash hit film Dhoom : 2 walked away with laurels last night at the LYCRA MTV awards 2007 held at the Andheri Sports Complex here.

While Shah Rukh Khan was presented with the ' Maha Style Icon Award', which was formerly won by heavyweights such as Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Feroz Khan, Hrithik scored more than an hat- trick as he was judged as 'The Most Stylish Body', 'Most stylish look' and 'Most Stylish Actor'.

Amidst a thunderous applause when SRK accepted his award he was humility personified as he said, '' Thank you for thinking of me as an icon. Post my six pack abs people want to see my body nobody wants to see my talent. I am thankful my heroines like the girls in 'Chak De' make me look good.'' While Hrithik Roshan had to leave early as it was his wife Suzanne's birthday said, I would like to thank by carbs, proteins, dumbbells and barbells. I want to thank the designer of Dhoom : 2 Anaita Shroff, who scared the hell out of me by giving me a piece of cloth as a T shirt.

Giving away the award to Hrithik, Mehr Rampal said, Nobody can be more stylish than my husband Arjun but in films it is Hrithik.

'Most Stylish Bollywood designer was Anaita Adjania Shroff for Dhoom:2' Most Stylish song in a film was Shaimak Davar for Dhoom: 2' and 'The Most Stylish Couple' was presented to Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan for : Dhoom:2'. While 'the most Stylish film' was presented to the makers of Dhoom: 2, Aditya Chopra and Sanjay Gadhvi.

A star studded evening last night saw superstars like never before. The people, who presented the awards were Ashok Amritraj and the star of the hit series 'Desperate Housewives' Jesse Calfe, Pooja Batra, Dino Morea, Gul Panang, Arjun Rampal with wife Mehr, Kim Sharma, Preeti Jhangiani, Gulshan Grover, Farah Khan, Shreyas Talpede among others.

The other awards were 'Most stylish comeback' was presented to actor Govinda, and 'Most stylish person on TV' was filmmaker and chat show host Karan Johar. A witty Karan replied, When I said style is not about money you spend on your wardrobe I was wrong. I hope this iron irons all my creases in my bank balance which have been caused by spending on my wardrobe.

Designer Manish Malhotra presented his retro line inspired by the yet to be released film 'Om Shanti Om' and debutante Deepika Padukone walked the ramp along with Arjun Rampal and other models.

The awards were interspersed by performances by Raghu Dixit, Hard Kaur, Rouge , Altaf and fashion shows by designers like Vikram Phadnis.

Being graduate may not be mandatory to contest polls in Pakistan

Islamabad, Oct 26 (UNI) Being a graduate may not remain a mandatory condition to contest elections in Pakistan. The condition was among the key points discussed between the government and the Pakistan People's Party at a recent meeting and it could be rescinded. ''The government has initially expressed its willingness to end the graduation condition because it is one of the major demands of PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto,'' The News quoted sources as saying. Undergraduates were barred from contesting the election.....

London, Oct 26 (UNI) Loss of habitat, hunting and threats, exacerbated by climate change will bring about the extinction of a primate species, mankind's closest relatives, in more than a century, according to the latest evaluation of the threat posed to the continued existence of monkeys and apes around the world. The endangered list includes the Western Hoolock gibbon (Hoolock hoolock) found in India, Bangladesh and Myanmar. One species of monkey that has not been seen for many years.....

HKHS demanding separate Statehood
