SC to hear Monica's petition on Nov 12

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The Supreme Court will hear on November 12 a petition filed by Monica Bedi, close associate of underworld don Abu Salem, to go outside Punjab to shoot for her films.

A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices R V Raveendran and V S Sirpurkar fixed the date of hearing after her petition was mentioned before the court by senior counsel K T S Tulsi for urgent hearing.

While granting bail to Monica Bedi the apex court had directed her not to move outside Punjab without prior permission of the court.

She was awarded five years imprisonment by the trial court which was reduced to three years by the Andhra Pradesh High Court against her appeal in a case of travelling on a forged passport. She had come in appeal in the Supreme Court against the High Court order.

Blast convicts legal battle now shifts to apex court

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) With all but one convict in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case receiving copies of the final verdict by the designated TADA court, the next round of the legal battle in this case is now set to shift to the apex court, which will now hear the petitions of these convicts, challenging the TADA court judgement. Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) A special court will record statement of Pravin Mahajan, accused in the Pramod Mahajan murder case, on October 29.
