Revelations against Modi not to damage BJP in Gujarat: Mathur

Chittorgarh, Oct 26 (UNI) BJP General Secretary and the incharge of the Gujarat unit's affairs, Om Prakash Mathur today said the recent revelations about the Godhra riots would not affect adversely the ruling BJP's prospects at the hustings.

Talking to reporters in Sanwaliaji near here Mr Mathur described Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as model of party's Hindutva agenda and said that his presence in the electioneering for the next assembly election there, would not damage BJP's prospects.

He said that the recent TV channel revelations were the latest trick of the Congress and the media and this would not work as majority communities of Gujarat were supporting the BJP and Chief Minister Mr Modi.

He also contradicted the reported statement of sitting BJP MLA Babu Bajrangi as referred by the TV channel.

Mr Mathur, who was here to participate in the two day meeting of the BJP Rajasthan state executive, also ruled out possibility of any fall out of events of Gujarat in Rajasthan during next assembly elections due by end of 2008.

All India Tolani Grand Prix bridge tourney from tomorrow

Six kidnapped from Italian oil facility off Nigeria

LAGOS, Oct 26 (Reuters) Gunmen kidnapped six workers from an Italian oil production facility off the coast of Nigeria today, forcing Italy's ENI to halt production of 50,000 barrels per day, authorities said. It was the second kidnapping from an offshore oilfield in Nigeria in one week, undermining a five-month ceasefire by armed groups which had raised hopes for peace talks with the government. The gunmen overpowered an oil industry vessel shortly before dawn and used it to to board.....

S Lanka says certain air space vulnerable from rebels

COLOMBO, Oct 26 (Reuters) Certain areas of Sri Lankan air space are vulnerable, an official said today, four days after Tamil Tiger rebels mounted their biggest-ever operation against a government airbase. Air Force Commander Roshan Goonetileke told journalists on Friday it will take some time to establish an air defence system for Sri Lanka and, until that happens, certain areas are vulnerable to attacks by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
