Pramod Mahajan murder case: Prosecution witnesses examination ends

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) A special court will record statement of Pravin Mahajan, accused in the Pramod Mahajan murder case, on October 29.

The court of additional sessions judge S P Davare concluded examination of the prosecution witnesses today.

Following this, the court chalked out further programme in the case. While Pravin Mahajan's statement will be recorded on Monday, the court will issue summons to the defence witnesses on the next day. The defence witnesses will be examined in November.

The prosecution has examined a total of 32 witnesses, including BJP leader Gopinath Munde, Ms Rekha Mahajan, Ms Poonam Mahajan-Rao and others in the case.

Earlier today, defence counsel H H Ponda cross examined investigation officer Ramakanth Dhoble who had recorded supplementary statement of Poonam Mahajan-Rao pertaining to the threatening SMS received by Pramod Mahajan.

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The Supreme Court today declined to give early hearing to the petition filed by former Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress (DPYC) president Sushil Sharma, facing death sentence in tandoor murder case. Pak militant awarded 13-year jail, fine

Jammu, Oct 26 (UNI) A local court today awarded 13-year imprisonment and a fine to a Pakistani militant while a 12-year jail term has been announced for the accused for giving shelter to the militant, sources today said. Sources said Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, J R Kotwal convicted and sentenced the accused Waqar Shah alias Imran resident of Hazara, Pakistan, to undergo 13 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15000 while handing down 12 years inprisonment to Nissar Ahmed resident.....

9 chargesheeted in fake finance companies cases in Leh

Srinagar, Oct 26 (UNI) The Crime Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Police today produced a charge-sheet against nine accused who had collected money from people in Leh by floating fake non-banking finance companies - Kashmir Valley Finance and Investment Limited and Jammu and Kashmir Originated Finance Company. A police spokesman said the Crime Branch concluded the prolonged investigations of two cases pertaining to massive embezzlement of public money by the management of the five companies.
