Politicians hold the key to introduce sex education-experts

Luckow, Oct 26 (UNI) Sex education is still a taboo in the Indian society and it was up to the politicians to pave way to adopt a consensus to introduce sex education in schools.

These views were expressed by several journalists on the opening day, of the two-day conference on 'Reporting on HIV: Issues and Concern organised by HT Media Limited and Kaiser International Health Journalism here today.

Mr Abhijeet Das, director, Centre for Health and Social Justice, making his point said media had a great role to play to control HIV/ AIDs in the country and force the government to introduce sex education in all the states.

Senior journalist J P Shukla said lanaguage was a big barrier to APPRISE the people about safe sex. ''Media should evolve a people's launguage to go before them to educate them about HIV and AIDS in a simple way and through local language,'' he added.

Another senior journalist Sanjay Johari blamed the politicians for coming in the way of introduction of sex education in the country.

'' Due to their mere political ambitions they are protesting against sex education claiming that it will harm the Indian tradition and culture'', he added.

A class XII student Diya also strongly advocated for introduction of sex education and called upon the mediapersons to force the government through their writtings to introduce it at the earliest.

Dainik Hindustan resident editor Naveen Joshi said the media should adopt a positive approach on the issue.

Police arrests 10 Myanmarese poachers from North Andaman

Law intern accuses judge of 'misbehaviour'

two killed, 8 hurt as bus rams into lorry

Chennai, Oct 26 (UNI) Two persons were killed and eight seriously injured when a State Transport Corporation bus hit a container lorry near Guduvancherry on the outskirts of the city this morning. Police said the bus was coming here from Vriddachalam in Cuddalore District when the container lorry carrying wooden logs came to a screeching halt after one of the tyres burst.
