Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar turns 71

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Equally talented if not more, the younger brother of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar turned 71 today.

The only son of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, Hridaynath was born on October 26, 1937. He is the younger brother of music icons Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. He is also brother to singers Ushatai and Meenatai. Hridaynath debuted his music career in 1955 with the Marathi film ''Akash Ganga''. He has also composed for Marathi films like ''Sansar'' and ''Jait Re Jait''.

Panditji received his musical tutelage from his father Deenanath Mangeshkar and from Ustad Amir Khan.

He has composed for both Marathi and Hindi films most notable among them being ''Umbartha''. Panditji is a composer/singer known for his surreal and beautiful etheral compositions in films like

Israeli troops raid Gaza, kill three militants

GAZA, Oct 26 (Reuters) Israeli troops killed three Palestinian gunmen in separate clashes in the Gaza Strip today as the army mounted raids into the coastal enclave, Palestinian medical and militant sources said. The Islamist Hamas movement, which controls the territory, said one of its fighters had been killed in northern Gaza. Clashes in NW Pakistan valley after suicide attack

MINGORA, Pakistan, Oct 26 (Reuters) Troops battled militants near the stronghold of a Taliban-style movement in northwest Pakistan today, a day after a suicide bomber killed 21 people in the area, 17 of them soldiers, security officials said.
