NABARDS balance sheet grows by 15 %

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) NABARDs size of balance sheet registered a decent increase of 15 per cent till September 30, 2007 to Rs 85,993 crores.

The size of the refinance institution catering primarily to rural India stood at Rs 74,517 crores as on September 30,2006.

The income from operations of the Bank for the quarter ended September 30, 2007 stood at Rs 1,364.53 crore as compared to Rs 1,106.91 crore for the corresponding quarter of 2006-07, showing an increase of Rs 257.62 crore.

Addressing a Press Conference here, CMD NABARD K G Kumarkar told newspersons here that the loans and advances outstanding as on September 30,2007, aggregated to Rs 7,1715.62 crores when compared to Rs 60603.99 crore as on Septembere 30, 2006, showing an increase of 18.33 per cent.

The interest expenditure for the quarter ended September 30 ,2007, was Rs 938.10 crore as compared to Rs 700.85 crore for the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 33.85 per cent.

The gross surplus before making provision for taxation is Rs 296.57 crore during the quarter ended September 2007 as compared to Rs 214.63 crore in the corresponding quarter for 2006-07.

Srinagar, Oct 26 (UNI) One person was killed and a Special Police Officer (SPO) wounded while security forces busted a militant hideout in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said. Security beefed up for Dera Chief's court appearance

Ambala, Oct 26 (UNI) Security arrangements have been beefed up in view of the scheduled appearance of the Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the special CBI court here tomorrow.
