Mumbai Income Tax to host cultural meet on October 29

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Mumbai Income Tax department has organised a sub-zonal cultural meet of the Central Revenue Sports Board (CRSB) at the Aaykar Bhavan here on October 29.

Officials and employees from the income tax, customs and central excise departments are taking part in the one-day event that will witness vocal and instrumental music, solo and group dances and drama in Hindi and regional langauges, a IT department spokesperson said today.

Those who are selected in this sub-zonal cultural meet will participate in zonal cultural meet of West Zone on November 21 and 22 next month.

Chief Commissioner of Mumbai Income Tax, Mala Ramakrishnan will be the chief guest at the event, the spokesperson said.

Romanian Economic Mission looking forward to trade pacts

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) A senior Romanian counsellor Dorin Refca of the Ministry of Small and Medium Sized Companies, Trade, Tourism and Liberal Professions, today expressed desire to strengthen bilateral trade and cooperation between India and Romania. Heading the Romanian Economic Mission, a high powered business delegation, Refca was speaking at an 'interactive meeting', organised by Federation of Indian chamber of commerce and industries. Turkey calls for Iraq to hand over all PKK rebels

ANKARA, Oct 26 (Reuters) Turkey wants Iraq to hand over all members of the separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) based in northern Iraq, Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek said today. Cicek, speaking in a televised interview as Iraqi and US officials met Turkish officials in Ankara in a bid to stop Turkey launching an incursion into northern Iraq to tackle the militants, also said Turkish air forces had hit targets in northern Iraq but there had been no full land incursion......

Unions should not be linked to political parties: SCRMU

Tirupati, Oct 26 (UNI) Trade unions would face difficulties in fulfilling the needs of workers if they are linked to political parties, South Central Railway Mazdoor Union (SCRMU), General Secretary Ch Shankara Rao said today. Mr Rao, who was here as a part of the union election campaign in Chittoor district, said the SCRMU, established in 1924, was not linked to any poltical party.
