Mahabir to visit China to firm up ties in SME sector

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister, Mahabir Prasad, will lead a delegation to China tomorrow, to attend a two-day Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The ministerial meeting will aim at enhancing cooperation among SMEs in ASEM countries, strengthening regional cooperation of industrial clusters, and expanding mutual investment areas.

The member countries will also discuss policies and measures for better adapting to globalisation, and ways to improve the capacity of innovation and competitiveness of the SMEs.

During the meeting, Mr Prasad will speak on cooperation among the SMEs.

Mr Mahabir will also interact with leaders of various ASEM countries on the development of the SME sector, with emphasis on cluster development.

Accounting for more than 95 per cent of all enterprises in most of the ASEM countries, SMEs act as a main driving force of technological innovation, expanding employment and boosting economic growth.

SC allows Mumbai blasts convicts to file appeal

New Delhi, Oct 26: The Supreme Court today permitted convicts in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case to file their appeal against conviction and sentence without filing the copy of the impugned judgement of the TADA court. Additional Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam, appearing for CBI, undertook to file the copy of the judgement in view of its contents running into around 5,000 pages. The order was passed by a bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, Justices R V Raveendran.....

Bandh to protest killings affects life in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 26 (UNI) A sudden declaration of a bandh by the Kuki Students Organisation partially affected life in Manipur today. The bandh was called to protest the killing of two Manipur Rifles personnel on Wednesday. However, business establishments and offices were closed, today being a holiday in view of a local festival. Imphal East Police Commondos had allegedly shot dead an MR jawan and another was feared dead in an incident. KSO president P Simte said they had.....

Sydicate Bank Q2 net up 10.9 per cent

New Delhi, Oct 26: Public sector Syndicate Bank today said the company posted a net profit of Rs 227.58 crore for the quarter ended September 30, an increase of 10.9 per cent as compared with Rs 205.07 crore during the same quarter last fiscal. Total income of the company rose by 35.1 per cent to Rs 2,154.99 crore for the quarter, as compared to Rs 1,595.07 crore during the corresponding period last year, a company statement said. Syndicate Bank recently launched.....
