Judge to probe Dera Baba Fattu Shah dispute

Chandigarh, Oct 26 (UNI) The Punjab government has appointed retired District and Sessions Judge Beant Singh Bedi to conduct an inquiry into the dispute over othe wnership and management of the Dera Baba Fattu Shah Bibi Sahiba, Rahimpur in Hoshiarpur district.

Stating this here today, an official spokesman said Mr Bedi would ascerain the ''rightful ownership and management'' of the Dera. The terms and conditions of the probe would be finalised soon.

It may be recalled that Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had recently announced to conduct a judicial enquiry to establish as to who was the owner of the Dera and in whom the management of Dera was vestsed.

Police arrest 10 Myanmarese poachers from North Andaman

Port Blair, Oct 26 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar Police has apprehended ten foreign poachers from the area of Sound Island of North Andaman. A Myanmarese dinghy and other items had also been seized. Following a tip off that some Myanmarese poachers had been sighted in and around South Island and the adjoining areas, an anti-poaching team of police proceeded to the area where they were sighted, Ashok Chand the Superintendent of Police in Andaman told UNI today. SC allows Mumbai blasts convicts to file appeal

New Delhi, Oct 26: The Supreme Court today permitted convicts in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case to file their appeal against conviction and sentence without filing the copy of the impugned judgement of the TADA court. Additional Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam, appearing for CBI, undertook to file the copy of the judgement in view of its contents running into around 5,000 pages. Bandh to protest killings affects life in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 26 (UNI) A sudden declaration of a bandh by the Kuki Students Organisation partially affected life in Manipur today. The bandh was called to protest the killing of two Manipur Rifles personnel on Wednesday. However, business establishments and offices were closed, today being a holiday in view of a local festival.
