JD(S) heading for split in Karnataka: Dharam Singh

Bangalore, Oct 26 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister N Dharam Singh today said that JD (S) seems to be heading for a split following the efforts by former Home Minister M P Prakash to form a new coalition government with the help of Congress.

Mr Singh told reporters here, that Mr Prakash had already submitted a list of JD(S) legislators supporting him to join hands with Congress and the matter is under consideration by the party High Command.

"JD (S) seems to have been split if one looks at the developments taking place after the Centre imposed the Presidents rule in the State", he added.

Mr Singh said that Ms Sonia Gandhi would take final decision on whether to accept the offer of support by JD (S) faction headed by Mr Prakash or to seek fresh mandate will emerge only after she returns from China.

Mr Singh said the party would consider the demand of party MLAs to hold a Congress Legislature Party meeting in view of the ongoing political developments.

Communal violence accused booked under NSA

Agra, Oct 26 (UNI) An accused was slapped with the National Security Act (NSA) for spreading communal violence in the city. District Magistrate Mukesh Meshram today said ''Munna Kishori was again found indulging in violence after being granted bail. He, therefore, has been booked under the NSA.'' On September 28, 2007, arson had arisen in the city after 'Akhand Ramayan Path' was allegedly stopped at a Shiv temple. The accused had been sent to jail. UNI.....

Man sentenced to death for murdering wife

Tiruvallur, Oct 26 (UNI) The Tiruvallur District Court today awarded life sentence to a 28-year-old man for strangulating his wife to death, after she failed to bring dowry. Holding that the prosecution had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt, District Judge Nagaraj awarded two years rigorous imprisonment to the man's parents, cited as co-accused in the case. The prosecution case was that Sivasorryanarayanan (28), the first accused, had killed his wife Sivakami (24) by strangulating her and set ablaze the body,.....
