IT outsourcing an opportunity of transformation

Bangalore, Oct 26 (UNI) IT infrastructure of organisations needs to be versatile as IT outsourcing had become an opportunity of transformation to the nation, Bhaskar Ghosh, Executive Director of Accenture, Global Infrastructure Outsourcing Delivery Centre Network said today.

Delivering his keynote address at the CII Conference on 'IT Infrastructure Outsourcing', Mr Ghosh said that IT Organisations today require an infrastructure that should be simple to use, can be continually updated, allow access to information anywhere in the world, requires minimal maintenance and, above all, reliable.

"Customers today in addition to cost benefits, are looking for process based outcomes", he added.

He said the service providers faced the main challenge in recruitment and retention and the people providing the infrastructural support. "IT Professionals in India expect promotions every year and want to grow all the time. In contrast vendor expectations is a little easier to handle as they have flexibility. They manage multiple clients and will have a larger IT team," he added.

CII Karnataka Vice Chairman and MD of John Flower (India) S Viswanathan said what the IT companies look for in the present scenario was intelligent IT infrastructure that was adoptable, manageable, affordable and more importantly having high degree of dependability.

3111 children to be covered with mid day meal

Imphal, Oct 26 (UNI) The Centre has extended the mid day meal scheme to the Upper Primary Stage of Education effective from October 1 with the identification of 3479 Educationally Backward Blocks (EBBs) in 2007-08. The Scheme will cover about 1.7 crore children at upper primary stage in the country during the current year, official sources said. They said the Scheme would cover 3111 children at Upper Primary Stage in five EBBs in Manipur. The Centre released central assistance.....

Assam Rifles organising tour for Manipur children

Imphal, Oct 26 (UNI) About 25 students of Thoubal District Manipur will be proceeding on a National Integration Tour to New Delhi and Agra from November 1 to 17. The tour will be flagged off by Major General B K Chengapa, IGAR (S) from Mantripukhri, Imphal on October 31, the PRO of Assam Rifles said. The tour, being conducted under the aegis of HQ 9 Sector Assam Rifles and 21 Assam Rifles, will afford an opportunity to the students.....

No reduction in CRPF deployment in J and K : CRPF DG

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today ruled out any reduction in their deployment in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the potency and designs of terrorists in the state had not come down even though the levels of violence had slightly declined.
