IT outsourcing, an opportunity of national transformation

Bangalore, Oct 26 (UNI) IT infrastructure of organisations needs to be versatile as IT outsourcing has become an opportunity of transformation to the nation, Accenture Global Infrastructure Outsourcing Delivery Centre Network Executive Director Bhaskar Ghosh said today.

Delivering his keynote address at the CII conference on 'IT Infrastructure Outsourcing', he said IT organisations require an infrastructure that should be simple to use, could be continually updated, allow access to information anywhere in the world, required minimal maintenance and, above all, was reliable.

''Customers today, in addition to cost benefits, are looking for process-based outcomes,'' he added.

He said service providers faced challenges mainly in recruitment and retention and people providing infrastructural support. ''IT professionals in India expect promotions every year and want to grow all the time. In contrast, vendor expectations are a little easier to handle as they have flexibility. They manage multiple clients and will have a larger IT team,'' he added.

CII Karnataka Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of John Flower (India) S Viswanathan said what the IT companies look for in the present scenario was intelligent IT infrastructure that was adaptable, manageable, affordable and more importantly had high degree of dependability.
