Gujarat cooperative chairman to head NCUI

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) Mr G H Amin, Chairman of the Gujarat State Cooperative Union, was today elected President of the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) by its Governing Council.

NCUI is an apex organisation of cooperative movement in the country, and Mr Amin had been its Vice President in the past.

Besides being the Chairman of the state cooperative union, he is a member of the Central High Power Committee on cooperation.

Mr Amin, a lawyer, has actively participated in the promotion and development of urban cooperative banks, district cooperative banks and housing cooperatives.

CPI(M) demands constitution of nodal agency

Machilipatnam, Oct 26 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist), CPI(M), Central Committee Member P Ramaiah today demanded the Andhra Pradesh Government to constitute a nodal agency to utilise Plan Outlay Funds under Scheduled Caste (SC) Component Plan and Tribal Sub Plan. Talking to UNI here, he said due to non-utilisation of funds, about Rs 10,000 crore had been diverted for other purposes during the last seven years. Every year, the Government had been allotting a plan outlay of 16 per cent.....

Bangarappa predicts mid-term election in K'taka

Bangalore, Oct 26 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party state unit President S Bangarappa today predicted mid-term elections in the state, saying forming an alternative government by any political party here was remote. Munslim outfit Pasarai demands arrest of Narendra Modi

Chennai, Oct 26 (UNI) Manitha Neethi Pasarai, a Muslim outfit, today demanded that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi should be arrested and prosecuted for allegedly backing the ''perpetrators of post-Godhra carnage in that State in 2002.'' Pasarai General Secretary Yamukaideen said in a statement here that the sting operation by Tehelka had exposed that Mr Modi was the key person behind the killing of innocent Muslims in the aftermath of Godhra incident.
