Govt's 'flip-flop' on N- deal to dominate Left deliberations

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The top leadership of the CPI will converge here on October 28 to deliberate on the ' flip-flop' of the Manmohan Singh government on the Indo-US nuclear deal issue, the Tehelka's sting operation on Gujarat post-Godhra violence, the galloping price rise and implementation of the Sachar Committee Report among other things.

The four-day discussions will also finalise the date and preparations for holding the party Congress in Hyderabad. The Left decision to coordinate with the UNPA in and outside Parliament on important national issues including the farmers' problems, the price rise and the N-deal will also figure prominently.

Party leaders Gurudas Dasgupta and S Sudhakar Reddy told UNI that the deliberations to be held at party central headquarters, the Ajoy Bhawan, will commence with the one day meeting of the party Central Secretariat, followed by one day party Executive on October 29 and the party national Council on October 30 and 31.

Meanwhile, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau has also been convened on November 11 and 12 to take stock of the latest political situation since the party Polit Bureau and Central committee meetings in Kolkata.

The Left parties' deliberations are being held at a time when they have resolved to mobilise the non-BJP, non-Congress forces to take on the Manmohan Singh government on the deal and have demanded that it be put on hold and the matter be discussed in Parliament to obtain the ' sense of the House.' Mr Reddy said the party Congress would be held between March 23 and 28. The exact date would be finalised during the deliberations.

The party Congress is held every three years and the preparations start at the party branch level, which send their representatives to the Mandal followed by the Tehsil, the district and the state level and finally to the party National Council.

" The party has over 35000 branches all over the country,'' Mr Reddy added.
