Gangster Hyder's son arrested, arms and ammunition seized

Kendrapara, Oct 26 (UNI) Police have arrested two notorious criminals Sk Kadir and Ishaq Khan and seized two 9mm semi-automatic revolvers , 23 live cartridges, two loaded magazines, a motor bike, two mobiles and a gold chain from their possession.

Kendrapara Inspector In-charge Santanu Dash said acting on a tip- off a police team, led by District Superintendent of Police Diptesh Patnaik, raided the Ranapada crematorium ground last night while Kadir and his gang were preparing to commit a dacoity and arrested the duo.

However, five others managed to escape.

Police said while ten cases of robbery, dacoity, extortion were pending against Kadir, son of gangster Hyder in Kendrapara and Bhubaneswar five criminal cases were pending against Ishak.

Mr Dash said both Kadir and Ishak were produced before the Kendrapara SDJM court today under Section 399 and 402 of IPC and 25 and 27 of Arms Act.

They were remanded to judicial custody after their bail petitions were rejected by the court, the IIC said.

Police-Moaist encounter leaves three women injured critically

Belpahari, West Medinipur, Oct 26 (UNI) At least three women were today critically injured when they came under a crossfire between Maoist guerillas and CRPF at Belparahi in West Medinipur, about 210 km west of Kolkata, official sources said.
