Four members of family commit suicide

Palakkad, Oct 26 (UNI) Four members of a family were found dead and another was taken to a local hospital in serious condition after they allegedly consumed poison at Kalpathi in this district of Kerala today.

Police said the deceased were identified as Prasanth Kumar(34), his wife Lekha(30) and children Durgesh(12) and Binu(nine). Their daughter Dhanu(5) was admitted to the District Hospital in a serious condition.

Prasanth was working with a private finance company and financial problems were said to be the reason for the extreme step.

6 NSCN cadres killed in inter-factional clash

Kohima, Oct 26: At least six NSCN militants were killed in separate inter-factional clashes in Nagaland's Dimapur district yesterday, official sources said here today. According to the sources, the warring NSCN-IM and NSCN(K) factions clashed at Medziphema area of Dimapur and in the Borlengri area along Assam-Nagaland border. The clashes started with the killing of two NSCN (K) cadres by the rival faction in Medziphema area following which the NSCN-IM cadres retaliated at 3rd Mile area there, sources added. Ex-gratia for militancy cases in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 26 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned an ex-gratia relief in favour of 17 militancy-related cases in the newly-created hill district of Shopian, an official spokesman said today. He said the district screening committee, which met under the chairmanship of the district development commissioner at Shopian, sanctioned an ex-gratia relief of Rs 7.27 lakh in favour of 17 militancy-related cases. Three killed, 10 injured in accident

Chennai, Oct 26 (UNI) Three people were killed and ten others injured when their bus dashed against a stationary truck near Guduvancherry in the city outskirts this morning. Police said the express bus was going to Chennai from Arupukottai when the accident occurred at around 0630 hrs. New Delhi, Oct 26: Federal Bank today said the company's net profit rose by 37.2 per cent to Rs 95.33 crore for the quarter ended September 30, as compared to Rs 69.46 crore for the corresponding period a year ago.
