Fake passport holders and applicants nabbed

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 26 (UNI) Police nabbed 162 persons for attempting to obtain passports by using forged documents from the Regional Passport Office(RPO) here in the last few months.

Police sources said the fake pasport racket was bursted by the RPO recently when they detected Thasleema Mariyam of Thanjavur's application for a new passport with forged documents, Four persons were arrested, including two employees of RPO here and efforts were on to trace two more travel agents, who were said to be at large in the organised crime.

Police said based on the complaints from RPO, 84 fake passports were seized from various applicants in 16 revenue districts from January to September.

Efforts were on to file criminal cases against the offenders, the sources said.

The proceesing work of additional 78 passport applications submitted with fake documents, were cancelled, the sources added.

EU sports chief warns WADA, rules out rival

Lisbon, Oct 26: The European Union's top sports regulator has ruled out a new European rival to the World Anti-Doping Agency, but said the organisation required a major shake-up under its new chief.
