''Elecrama-2008'' to be held in Mumbai next year

Chennai, Oct 26 (UNI) "Elecrama-2008", the world's largest trade fair for power sector, will be held in Mumbai from January 18 to 22 next year.

The biggest electrical and electronics industries exhibition of Asia, Africa and the Middle East would be organised by the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA) with the theme "The future of power is here".

Talking to newspersons here today, Elecrama Chairman Vimal Mahendru and IEEMA Director General Sunil More said this B2B fair would provide an ideal platform for Indian and foreign companies to showcase their products that could cater to power generating capacity demands.

The exhibition would address issues like innovative energy technologies as well as equal integration of renewable and conventional energy sources.

It would have international seminars on switchgear industry, cables and wires industry and rotating machines industry.

More than 1,000 companies, including 150 firms from 40 countries, would participate in the fair.

There would be biggest participation from Germany, China, Korea, Taiwan, Sri Lanka and Italy.

''We are expecting about 1,00,000 visitors during the five-day event'', Mr More said.

National Bank AG of Germany keen to invest in India

Kolkata, Oct 26 (UNI) The National Bank AG of Germany is scouting for collaboration opportunities with Indian companies by analysing socio-economic and political situation of the country. Talking to mediapersons here today, bank's spokesperson Thomas A Lange said German companies were keen to invest in India, especially in West Bengal and talks were on in the IT, Biotech, Services and Industries and Tourism sector. Paddy purchase touches 100 lakh tonne

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The Food Corporation of India (FCI) and other government agencies, engaged in Kharif 2007-08 procurement, have so far procured 100 lakh tonne of paddy from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP). The procurement is in full swing in paddy procurment states and keeping in view the present trends of arrival in mandies (markets), procurement could reach 256 lakh tonne of paddy and 276 lakh tonnes of rice during the current season, a FCI release said here.....

Syndicate Bank Q2 net up 11%, govt nod for public issue

Bangalore, Oct 26 (UNI) Syndicate Bank's net profit grew 11 per cent to Rs 227.58 crore in the second quarter ending September 30 as against Rs 205 crore earned in the same period last year,a top bank official today said.
