Ahmedabad, Oct 26 (UNI) The Congress will begin the process of selection of candidates for the forthcoming Gujarat assembly elections tomorrow, while an election committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Bharatsinh Solanki.

About 2500 forms from prospective candidates have been received and the committee would scrutinise it before finalising the candidates.

The selection process has been spread in five zones of the state, from where the forms submitted will be analysed and candidates given a chance to speak and put up their case, Mr Dipak Babriya, spokesman of the election committee said.

The selection process in Saurashtra gets underway on October 27, covering Porbandar, Surendranagar, Junagadh city and district, while on the next day it will be in Rajkot city and district, Jamnagar city and district and Amreli.

The schedule for other districts is as follows: October 27--Bhavnagar-Ahmedabad and in North Gujarat at Patan, Banaskantha. Central Gujarat in Anand, Vadodara city and district and South Gujarat at Bharuch, Valsad and Gandhinagar.

October 28 at Kheda, Dahod, Panchmahals, Navsari, Surat and Kutch.
