BJP Raj executive condemns UPA. praises Vasundhara Govt

Chittorgarh, Oct 26 (UNI) Sharp criticism to the ''anti people'' policies of the UPA Government at the Centre and praise for ''impressive perfomances'' of the Vasundhara Raje led BJP Government in Rajasthan marked the opening of the two-day State Executive Meet of the ruling BJP which began in Sanwaliaji town today.

BJP state president Dr Mahesh Sharma inaugurated the meeting. In his speech, Dr Sharma condemned the Manmohan Singh Government for encouraging ''speculative and pro gambling'' trendS in the capital market and said this was rendering unrepairable losses to the Indian economy.

He said the country had marched ahead on the path of solid economic growth under the previous Vajpayee Government but the present government's policies had stalled that pace of development.

He also charged the UPA Government with working on a ''soft policy'' against terrorism and appeasement of minorities, particularly muslims.

Mr Sharma praised the Vasundhara Raje Government and termed it as the best performing state government in the country. He said the BJP government in the state had fulfilled all its commitments made to the electorate during the last elections.

BJP General Secretaries Gopinath Munde and Om Prakash Mathur, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and a galaxy of the party leadership, including several ministers, MPs and office bearers participated in the opening day session of the two-day conclave, said to be crucial for gearing up the organisation for the assembly elections, due to be held in a year or so.

However, several ministers like Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, Industries Minister and former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat's son-in-law Narpat Singh Rajvi, Education Minister Ghanshyam Tiwari, his deputy Vasudev Devnani, Tribal Development Minister Kanak Mal Katara, Social Welfare Minister Madan Dilawar, Food and Civil Supply Minister Dr Kirodi Lal Meena, Government Chief Whip Mahavir Prasad Jain and former state presidents, MPs LK Chaturvedi and Raghivir Singh Kaushal, were absent in the opening session.

Most of these leaders are symbolised as dissidents within the party and have been active to persue the party high command for change in the leadership in the state.

However, party general secretary Mr Munde, who is the incharge of the party state unit's affairs, denied reports of dissidence in the party.

Talking to reporters, he said the absence of MLAs or other leaders from the meeting neither tentamounted to dissidence nor an act of indiscipline.

The meeting will conclude tomorrow. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani is scheduled to address the concluding day session tomorrow.
