Bangarappa predicts mid-term election in K'taka

Bangalore, Oct 26 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party state unit President S Bangarappa today predicted mid-term elections in the state, saying forming an alternative government by any political party here was remote.

''The Samajwadi Party would gear up to face the election,'' he said, after being felicitated on his 75th birthday here.

After the fall of JD(S)-BJP coalition government and imposition of President's rule in the state, there was no other alternative but to go for elections, he said.

''No party is in a position to stake claim to form the government and election was imminent,'' he added.

Mr Bangarappa said he would undertake a state-wide tour from next week to create an awareness among the party workers and public.

Expressing confidence that a Third Front would emerge in the country after the snap polls to Karnataka Assembly, Mr Bangarappa appealed to all the 'right thinking people' to join hands in fighting the communal and corrupt forces and work for building a strong society.

''Time has come to wage a struggle to establish a classless society'' he added.
