Bandh to protest killings affects life in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 26 (UNI) A sudden declaration of a bandh by the Kuki Students Organisation partially affected life in Manipur today.

The bandh was called to protest the killing of two Manipur Rifles personnel on Wednesday.

However, business establishments and offices were closed, today being a holiday in view of a local festival.

Imphal East Police Commondos had allegedly shot dead an MR jawan and another was feared dead in an incident.

KSO president P Simte said they had demanded a judicial probe into the killing.

Meanwhile, police said about 100 goods-carrying trucks were stranded at Senapati ground on National Highway 39 following imposition of indefinite economic blockade along the two National Highways, NH 39 and 53, by Thadou Students Association(TSA), Sadar Hills since wee hours of October 23. They are demanding proper infrastructure for the educational institutes at Sadar Hills in Senapati district.

Assembly constituency village cut off following heavy rain

Puducherry, Oct 26 (UNI) Manalaipet village in Mannadipet assembly constituency was cut off from Puducherry region following flood in the Sankarabharani river due to incessent rainfall in the area for the last two days. The administration had constructed a bed dam and a bridge across the Sankarabharani river at Manalipet. Even though the construction of the bridge was completed, it could not be commissioned due to lack of approach road on eighter sides because of some land dispute with private parties......

FAGMIL presents Rs 1.5 cr dividend cheque to Paswan

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The public sector FCI Aravali Gypsum and Minerals India Ltd (FAGMIL) today presented a dividend cheque of Rs 1,46,59,600 for the year 2006-07 to the Chemical, Fertiliser and Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan at a function held here. MRF National Supercross championship 2007 on Oct 28
