All HP police stations now have 100 number dialling facility

Shimla, Oct, 26 (UNI) All police stations in Himachal Pradesh are now having 100 number dialling facility, said IGP (Law and Order) Sitaram Mardi here today.

"People can use this toll free dialling facility on their mobile phones as well as landline phones for lodging their complaints and giving vital information to police," Mr Mardi said.

"While travelling on the highways people can dial number 100 if they face traffic jam or if they need any police assistance, which enable them to contact nearest police station." He said all the SHO's have been directed to immediately respond to such complaints of public. All the supervisory officers have been directed to ensure that response time should be minimum when such complaints are made to police, he added.

Tripura asks Assam police to investigate missing

Agartala, Oct 26 (UNI) Tripura police today asked its Assam counterpart to investigate the missing case of 37 children from Bru Refugee camps in North Tripura a few months back. According to a report, as many as 37 children of Reang tribal clan of Mizoram, presently residing in six different refugee camps of Tripura, went missing early this year after some miscreants lured them with promises of better education outside the state. Quake shakes Jammu and Kashmir along Indo-China Border

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale shook Indo-China border area in Jammu and Kashmir today but no damage or injuries were reported, officials said. The epicentre of the earthquake, which occurred at about 1220 hrs, was 35.8 degrees North latitude and 76.9 degrees East Longitude, Indian Meteorological Department officials said. In October 2005, a temblor measuring 7.6 on the Richter Scale, rattled Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, claiming scores of lives.....

DAN govt. still strong despite seven desertions

Kohima, Oct 26 (UNI) The Democratic Alliance of Nagaland(DAN) today ruled out any threat to the government following the withdrawal of support by seven legistators.
