3 of a family die after drinking contaminated water

Darbhanga, Oct 26 (UNI) Altogether three members of a family died after drinking contaminated water at Ajamnagar area under University police station here last night.

Police here today said Darbhanga Municipal Corporation employee Satyanarayan Yadav (50), his wife Meena Devi (45) and their daughter Poonam Kumari (18) fell unconscious after drinking water from a bucket in their house.

They were rushed to the nearby R B Memorial hospital, where they succumbed to ailment during treatment.

Police have found a dead lizard in the bucket and suspect the water might have turned poisonous following this.

The bodies had been sent for postmortem.

Call money opens high at 6.10 pc

Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Inter Bank Call money rates today opened slightly high at 6.10 per cent compared to its previous close of 6.00 per cent on increased fresh demand from bankers in wake of lesser funds in the market. During intra-day, call rates fluctuated between 6.05 and 6.20 per cent, dealers said. The rates have been hovering in the range of 6.00-6.10 per cent in the past few weeks and are likely to remain at this level in the near.....

Rupee opens low at 39.60/61 per USD

Mumbai, Oct 26: The spot rupee today opened weaker by about five paise against the US currency at 39.60/61 per dollar as compared to its previous close of 39.55/56 per dollar on increased dollar selling pressure by local dealers. Later, the Indian unit fluctuated widely between 39.50 and 39.60 in intra day trade. Traders are awaiting the RBI quarter credit policy announcement on October 30, dealers added. UNI.....

I-flex solutions Q2 net dips 24.1 pc at Rs 76.58 cr

New Delhi, Oct 26: I-flex solutions today said its net profit dipped by 24.1 per cent to Rs 76.58 crore for the quarter ended September 30, as compared to Rs 100.94 crore for the corresponding period a year sgo. The company's revenue rose by 9.6 per cent at Rs 435.17 crore for the quarter compared with Rs 396.80 in the same quarter in 2006, a company statement said. The Group's net income decreased by 6.5 per cent to Rs 87.4 crore.....

Diana was alive after the crash, says witness

London, Oct 26 (UNI) Princess Diana cried ''Oh my God, oh my God'', as she lay in the smoking wreckage of the car, according to one of the first witnesses to reach the crash site in the Paris tunnel, the inquest into her death heard. The evidence contradicts earlier suggestions that the Princess was never conscious enough to speak after the crash. Damian Dalby, a volunteer fireman travelling to Paris with his brother and friends, told the High Court here through.....
