25 member team from Myanmar visits Fortis Hospital in Mohali

Mohali, Oct 26 (UNI) A 25-member delegation from Myanmar today visited Fortis Hospital, Mohali to learn and understand the functioning of a state-of-the-art hospital with international recognition.

The delegation comprised of senior officials from various ministries of Myanmar, including health, energy, mines, railways, law, planning commission and education.

The members of the delegation were keen to understand the latest medical advancements and computing systems used by the hospital, which has been granted accreditation from the US-based Joint Commission International (JCI), said Dr Ashok Chordiya, Medical Director, Fortis Hospital, Mohali.

Myanmar Supreme Court Director Khin Thida Kyaw, while talking about her visit to Fortis said, ''I was particularly impressed with the 'Tracer Methodology' that Fortis uses. The hospital has a very interesting evaluation method to trace any patient's experiences from the time the patient registers till the patient is discharged.

This is a practice worth emulating.'' The high level delegation is in India for a 12 weeks training with Center for Development of Advance Computing (CDAC) , Mohali.

CDAC is taking the team to various institutions in different sectors which have successfully implemented on-line processes and systems.

Chad extends eastern emergency despite peace accord

N'DJAMENA, Oct 26 (Reuters) Chad extended a state of emergency in its violent east today, a day after a ceasefire accord signed with rebel groups which President Idriss Deby said was a last chance for peace.
