100% increase in flights from Kerala to Gulf sector

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) There has been more than 100 per cent increase in air services from Kerala to the Gulf region as well as within India in the last three years.

Currently, the total number of flights per week from Thiruvananthapuram is 103 of which 47 are by Indian carriers and 56 are by foreign carriers, according to figures available with the ministry of civil aviation. In 2004, the total flights per week from Thiruvananthapuram were 54 -- 18 by Indian carriers and 36 by foreign carriers.

There are total of 120 services per week in Kochi -- 62 by Indian carriers and 58 by foreign. In 2004, there were 61 services per week -- 31 by Indian carriers and 30 by foreign.

In Calicut, there used to be 43 services per week in 2004, all of which were provided by Indian carriers. Now there are 90 services per week of which 82 are by Indian carriers and eight by foreign carriers.

Presently, Air India Express operates 106 services per week to the Gulf Sector. A total of 38 are from Calicut, 33 from Trivandrum and 35 from Kochi.

Meghalaya sets new world record on guitar ensemble

Shillong, Oct 26 (UNI) Meghalaya today set a world record for the largest guitar ensemble with a performance here by guitarists from across the North Eastern states. However, there is a visible threat to this as Londoners too have decided to make a similar attempt on November 2 under the aegis of the Guitar Trade Fair.
