500 kg unlicensed explosives seized; 2 nabbed

Jayankondam (Tamil Nadu) Oct 18: Police seized 500 kg of unlicensed explosives and arrested two people in this connection at Papakkudi village, near here, yesterday.

Police said today that during a routine vehicle check-up, a police party intercepted a man moving around in a suspicious manner with a head load. On examination of his head load, police found some explosive materials. During interrogation, it came to light that the man, Ramarajan, a gypsy from Thiruvalanchuli near Kumbakonam, had purchased it from one Mahalingam at Melanikuzhi, near here.

Police raided the premises of Mahalingam at Melanikuzhi and seized the explosives.

The arrested were later remanded to judicial custody.

Asst CoP held on graft charges in Madurai

Madurai, Oct 17:Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) arrested a senior police official on graft charges here late last night.
