Pondy: Certificate course on yoga

Puducherry, Oct 13: For the first time in the country, the Community College under the Pondicherry Central University here has started a certificate course on 'yoga' for senior citizens.

Speaking, after inaugurating the course, Pondicherry University Former Vice-Chancellor Gnanam today said senior citizens could keep themselves fit sans diseases if they learn and practice yoga. This would also provide job opportunities for the youth as several yoga teachers were required in schools and colleges.

The three-months certificate course was introduced in addition to the one-year PG Diploma Course in Yoga.

Prof Gnanam also released a book 'Thiruvalluvarin Yoga Sindanai' on the occasion.

Puducherry, May 21: Fiftysix unemployed graduate teachers and volunteers of the DYFI and DPI were arrested when they put up a road block here today to press their demands. Pondy: Functioning of OPD affected in JIPMER

Puducherry, May 21: Functioning of the out-patients department in the centrally administered JIPMER hospital was affected for about one-and-a-half hours this morning as the medical records department staff resorted to a strike. Accoridng to JIPMER sources, the registration of out-patients at the hospital was from 0800 hrs to 1030 hrs. The management on Saturday last asked the medical record staffs to begin the registration from 0730 hrs today. The staff contended that a decision.....
