Presidential election in Pakistan

Islamabad, Oct 06 2007: Security in Pakistan has been tightened as members of the national and provincial assemblies began voting for the presidential election todfay.

The election got underway at Parliament House in Islamabad and the provincial assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, North West Frontier Province and Balochistan at 10 AM. President Pervez Musharraf goes into the presidential contest sure of gaining enough votes to win re-election for another 5-year term, but the Supreme Court may not let him claim victory.

Melbourne, July 27: Pakistan has urged Australia to sell uranium to the South Asian country. Suicide attacks kill four in NW Pakistan

Miranshah (Pakistan), Aug 24: A suicide car bomber killed three Pakistani soldiers and wounded three today in an attack on a military convoy in troubled North Waziristan region near the Afghan border, military officials said. Hours later, another suicide car bomber rammed his vehicle into a military convoy killing one soldier and wounded three in the same region.
