Bhubaneshwar celebrates 'Elephant Day'

Bhubaneshwar, Oct 7 2007:A zoo in Bhubaneshwar city celebrated 'Elephant Day' today to spread awareness about the pachyderm.

The elephants in the famous Nandankanan zoo were decorated and decked up for the event, which falls during the wildlife week that is observed in the first week of October annually. Several students flocked the zoo to be a part of the elebration, all the while learning about the jumbos as they came in close proximity with the animals.

Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: Bhubaneswar Railway station has been included in the list of 17 stations to be developed as 'world class modern station' all over the country. According to a release issued by the East Coast Railways (ECoR), a sum of Rs one crore has been allotted for the consultancy to prepare conceptual plan followed by detailed engineering project work. Necessary funds for the development of the station would be made available in the 2007-08.....

Bhubaneshwar, Jan 31: POSCO India today awarded scholarships to 28 students from the families likely to be displaced in the proposed Rs 51,000 crore mega steel plant project in Orissa, the biggest FDI in the country. As promised earlier, 28 students from the three gram panchayats of Nuagaon, Gada Kujanga and Dhinkia, falling under the proposed site, were awarded POSCO-TJ Park Foundation scholarship for the academic year 2007-2008 at a function in Kujang, located closed to the project site. Textbook dubs BJP, VHP, Bajarang Dal as terror outfits

Bhubaneshwar, Jan 31: Orissa BJP president Suresh Pujari and Bajrang Dal national co-convenor Subash Chouhan today condemned a textbook that described the BJP, Bajarang Dal, Shiv Sena and RSS as ''extension of terrorist organisations.'' Expressing shock over such writings, both Mr Pujari and Mr Chouhan demanded action against the publisher and writers of the book.
