Rome weapons factory blast kills one, injures 8

ROME, Oct 9 (Reuters) One person was killed and eight were injured in an explosion on Tuesday at a British-owned weapons factory outside Rome, emergency services said.

The cause of the blast was not immediately clear.

A fire brigade spokesman said at least one of the eight people injured was suffering from serious burns.

The plant at Colleferro, southeast of Rome, belongs to Simmel Defence, which manufactures ammunitions, explosives, missile warheads and rockets for the armed forces in Italy and abroad.

Simmel was bought by British company Chemring Group in March this year.

Fert, Grunberg win 2007 Nobel for physics

STOCKHOLM, Oct 9 (Reuters) Albert Fert and Peter Grunberg won the 2007 Nobel Prize for physics for their work with nanotechnology, the Nobel Committee for Physics at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said today. The prestigious 10 million Swedish crown prize recognised the pair's work which has allowed the radical miniaturisation of hard disks. Sundaram Infotech to expand operations in South East Asia

Chennai, Oct 9 (UNI) Continuing its overseas expansion, Sundaram Infotech Solutions Limited (SISL), the IT arm of Sundaram Finance Limited today announced that it is targeting the ERP market in South East Asia. HP foray into retail photo printing market

Chennai, Oct 9 (UNI) Hewlett-Packard today unveiled its strategy to revolutionize the digital photography market by announcing its entry into the retail photo printing market with the launch of HP Retail Photo Solutions. The company has also announced the much awaited launch of consumer online photo service 'HP Snapfish' customized specially for the Indian market, according to a press release here today. Company plans 3000 retail photo outlets with HP Retail Photo Solutions by 2010 and photo delivery through Snapfish.....
