Meru introduces pick up service at CST International Airport

Mumbai, Oct 9 (UNI) V-Link, a company which launched ''Meru'' -- the metered call taxi service in Mumbai earlier this year -- has now introduced its pick-up service at Domestic Terminal 1B of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

Two Meru cabs will be available at the bay just outside the arrival gate of the terminal, while ten more vehicles will be available at the parking lot.

Speaking to reporters today, V-Link managing director Neeraj Gupta said, ''We are currently working toward having Meru cabs stationed at Terminal 1A as well as the International Airport.'' Meru cabs at the airport will be tracked from the main control room to determine their geographical location as well as their availability in order to ensure that the vehicles are always available for customer pick-ups. Meru is currently executing over 400 bookings per day across the city.

''Every fare that the Meru takes is digitally transmitted back to the Control Centre and is recorded for reference. Each cab has an on board printer which gives a printed receipt for the fare collected.

This makes it easy for those passengers who require a receipt for claiming travel expenses and can also be used by a passenger to report excess fare complaints, if any,'' Mr Gupta said.

V-Link will increase to 1,000 taxis by year-end and plans to manage a fleet of at least 10,000 cabs across major metros of the country in the next three to five years, Mr Gupta added.
