UP govt spending crores on park, statues: Ajit Singh

Bulandshahr, UP, Oct 9: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president and former union minister Ajit Singh has alleged that the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh was spending crores of rupees on developing parks and installing statues.

Talking to newspersons here last evening, Mr Singh claimed that the development process had come to a standstill under the Mayawati regime.

''The law and order situation is really bad in UP and the incidents of loot, murder and kidnapping are on the rise,'' he added.

Meanwhile, he also said there were maximum possibilites of a mid-term Lok Sabha poll in the country.

However, he denied that RLD was holding talks with Congress for a possible electoral alliance to this end.

''The party will take any decision after the announcement of the general election,'' he informed.

On the sacking of over 20,000 policemen in UP, Mr Singh suggested strict action against officials, who were involved in the police recruitment scam.
