Mansimran Singh, Amarinder Kaur adjudged best shooters

Chandigarh, Oct 9 (UNI) Mansimran Singh and Amarinder Kaur Sangha were adjudged best shooters in men and women categories in the Chandigarh State Shooting Championship held here today.

The championship was organised by the Chandigarh Rifle Association. At the prize distribution ceremony, Punjab Cooperation Minister Kanwaljit Singh exhorted budding shooters to work hard in order to excel at national as well as international level shooting championships.

He reiterated the Punjab Government's firm commitment to create quality sports infrastructure in the state.

Capt. Singh announced a grant of Rs 51,000 for the Chandigarh Rifle Association and assured every possible help to it for organising such championships which were an ideal platform to identify the talent.

Earlier, Chandigarh Rifle Association President and Punjab Principal Secretary (Home) B C Gupta informed that 106 participants took part in this championship.

Mauritius scientists fear tourism impact on coral

EU says may still ban Brazil meat over health concerns

At least 40 killed in govt attack on Darfur town

KHARTOUM, Oct 9 (Reuters) A Sudanese army air and ground assault killed at least 40 people in the Darfur town of Muhajiriya, where bodies littered the streets amid burned out buildings, rebels who control the area said today.
