Major Inaugurates IFSCON 07 International Flight Safety Conference

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Aviation experts from 30-odd countries here today began deliberations to address global safety issues and enhance flight safety globally.

Inaugurating the International Flight Safety Conference 2007 (IFSCON 07), Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major observed that even though modern technology had over the years made flying ''very safe, routine and convenient'', aviation blooming all over the world had brought with it the additional challenges of crowded skies and huge pressures of aviation infrastructure.

He hoped the global effort of IFSCON 07 would contribute to making aviation universally safe.

The conference provides an important forum where participants of various global aviation organisations, Air Forces and aviation-related organisations such as DGCA, AAI, and the like come together to share their experiences to enhance flight safety globally.

The IFSCON 07 delegates would be discussing and deliberating on topics such as adoption of tri-services Pan Defence Aviation Regulatory&Safety Group, operational risk management, Accident Investigation techniques, pitfalls in Human factors and suggested remedies.

It has been observed that 45 per cent of accidents take place due to technical glitches, 45 per cent due to human error and the remaining 10 per cent were attributable to the flying environment.
