JD(S) betrayed people by allying with BJP: CPI(M)

Gulbarga, Oct 9 (UNI) CPI(M) Karnataka unit Secretary G N Nagaraj today said former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy did the right thing by refusing to hand over power to the BJP and saved the State from 'communal forces'.

Speaking to mediapersons here, he, however, said the Janata Dal (Secular) had betrayed the people of the State by giving up its secular image and allying with a ''communal party'' like the BJP.

This had resulted in the party losing the trust of the people, he added.

The party should now try to resurrect its secular credentials, Mr Nagaraj said.

It's official: Yousuf ditches ICL for rival IPL

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) The mystery over Pakistan run machine Mohammad Yousuf's aligning with either of two rival Indian cricket leagues deepened with BCCI-backed Indian Premier League (IPL) announcing his signing along with 10 other current and past international cricketers today. Yousuf signed on the dotted lines for 'rebel' Indian Cricket League (ICL) after he was omitted from Pakistan's Twenty20 World Cup squad only to back out after much persuasion by PCB chief Nasim Ashraf. Israeli police question Olmert over bank deal

JERUSALEM, Oct 9 (Reuters) Police today questioned Prime Minister Ehud Olmert over allegations of attempted bid-rigging in the sale of a commercial bank, one of several scandals dogging the Israeli leader. Olmert was Israel's finance minister during the 2005 privatisation of Bank Leumi, Israel's second biggest commercial bank. Suspicions in that case focus on whether he tried to tailor the sale offer to give preference to a friend, who ultimately never bid on the bank. Olmert has denied any wrongdoing......
