Chandigarh, Oct 9 (UNI) The Haryana government has invited investment from Australia in the fields of food processing, infrastrucutre, nano-technology and education in the state.
Haryana Agriculture Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha today urged an Australian delegation, led by High Commissioner of Australia John McCarthy, to invest in these fields as Haryana was emerging as a leading state in the country.
The other members of the delegation included Trade Commissioner Michael Carter, First Secretary Murry Harris and Business Development Manager Anirban Deb.
Mr Chatha also urged the delegation to investment in solar energy area as there was a great potential in the state to harness the non conventional energy.
The Minister apprised them that Haryana had garnered investment of worth seven billion US dollars during the last two-and-a-half years and proposals worth 15 billion dollars were in the pipeline.
He said the investment promotion centres had been set up at Delhi and Chandigarh as a single point contact agency to provide information and guidance for setting up of their ventures.
Mr Chatha maintained that a six lane express highway by passing Delhi would link Kundli with Manesar and Palwal and it would connect the state with important sea ports located in South, West and Eastern part of India.
A global corridor had been planned along with this express way which would be helpful in opening new avenues and opportunities for the development of new urban and industrial townships alongwith its 135 kms route.
The Minister told the delegation that a nano city was also being set up jointly with Sabeer Bhatia of Hotmail fame over an area of 11000 acres of land near Panchkula besides European Technology Park in collaboration with a Dutch Haryana Business Consortium.
The Minister urged the delegation to set up their educational institutes in the upcoming Rajiv Gandhi Education city where international fame institutions would be set up.
He said Haryana, being an agrarian State, had a great potential to export agri-based goods and was exporting Kinnows to other countries.
