150 ill after consuming contaminated food

Ferozabad, Oct 9 (UNI) At least 150 persons were taken ill after eating contaminated sweets of a roadside vendor at Sirsaganj town here.

The victims started vomiting soon after consuming a sweet cuisine bought from a hawker late yesterday.

They were rushed to community health centres and private hospitals, where those in serious condition were referred to the government hospitals in Shikohabad and Ferozabad.

Meanwhile, some vendors had been identified and taken into police custody.

Investigations were underway.

Tea auction sees good demand by exporters

Kolkata, Oct 9 (UNI) The tea auction held here from Ocober 1-4 saw good demand by exporters, including Major Blender and UK Coninent. A Kolkata Brokers' Joint Statistics department release here today said that 72,170 packages containing 22,03,966 kgs CTC tea was auctioned in which Tata Tea did selective buying and Western India was active on liquoring teas while Major Blender did some inquiry on bolder brokens and fannings. New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) 'An American Witness to India's Partition', a book tracing the events revolving around India's partition by Padma Shri awardee Phillips Talbot, was released by former Prime Minister I K Gujral here yesterday.
