Woman ''leaves behind'' herd of sheep

Pathanamthitta, Oct 8 (UNI) The decomposed body of a woman, who was in news for her love of a herd of sheep and reported missing for the past five days, was found floating in a swamp, just 100 metres away from her house today.

Since Elikutty (71) went missing, police and local people were making a thorough search for her. She was a 'pet' subject for the media because of her deep bond with a herd of sheep.

She owned not less than 60 sheep and gave them separate names.

After grazing during the day, the herd used to return as night falls, when she called them by name. There was also a pack of dogs to guard them.

Elikutty, who had been living in a house allocated by the Municipality, on the fringe of a cremation ground, was the talk of the town for the past five decades.

On Saturday last, the body of her unidentified helper was recovered from bushes adjacent to her house.

Police registered a case and investigation was on.
