TN Assembly session from Oct 17

Chennai, Oct 8 (UNI) The monsoon session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly has been convened to meet on October 17.

State Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today issued a notification, summoning the House to meet at 0930 hrs on that day, an official release here said.

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) was expected to meet after the day's proceedings on the opening day and draw the agenda for the session, official sources said.

Before commencing the proceedings, the House was expected to pass obituary references in respect of former Legislators who died recently, the sources said.

Mysore, Oct 8 (UNI) With the arrival of a two-year-old female giraffe from Lucknow zoo, the Mysore Zoo authorities' long drawn out search for one to continue captive breeding has been fulfilled. Zoo Director Vijayaranjan Singh said here today that 'Kushi' was brought here after a 2,400-km-long arduous journey last evening as part of an exchange programme involving a pair of chimpanzees. Bangalore-Mangalore Project to be launched in November

Bangalore, Oct 8 (UNI) The Bangalore-Mangalore rail route will be thrown open for passenger traffic from the second week of November, Minister of State for Railways R Velu said today. Justice Ananda Reddy appointed Lokayukta

Hyderabad, Oct 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Governor Narayana Dutt Tiwari today appointed High Court Judge S Ananda Reddy as state's Lokayukta. According to an official release, Justice Ananda Reddy's term would be for a period of five years. Kerala to set up coastal, community police stations

Kozhikode, Oct 8 (UNI) The Kerala government is planning to establish eight coastal and 14 community police stations at various parts of the state, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishan said today. Talking to newspersons here, Mr Balakrishan said the first coastal station would come up at Neendakara and another one at Beypore in Kozhikode district to ensure strict maintenance of law and order, along the coastal areas.
