Three session judges of Punjab elevated to HC

Chandigarh, Oct 8 (UNI) Three district and sessions judges of Punjab were today elevated as Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

They were administered the oath of office by Chief Justice Vijender Jain.

The three who assumed charge of their new assignments were-- Mohinder Pal of the Punjab legal remembrance, Mr Sham Sunder Gupta, Registrar-cum-District and Sessions Judge (Vigilance) at the High Court and Mr Harbans Lal, District and Session Juddge, Ludhiana.

HC refuses interim relief to 1200 sacked police radio operators

Lucknow, Oct 8 (UNI) In a landmark judgement, Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today rejected a petition seeking interim relief to the 1200 dismissed police radio operators. The order was passed by Justice O P Srivastava on a petition filed by Renu Tripathi and 44 others. HC accepts Amarinder's plea to go abroad

Chandigarh, Oct 8 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today allowed former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to go to Dubai and Britain in connection with his investment plans and medical check up, from October 11 to November 30. However, Justice Ranjit Singh adjourned, till October 15, hearing on the petitioner's plea for grant of blanket bail against any future case which might be registered against him by the Punjab Police or the Vigilance Bureau should give him advance.....

Octroi agents threaten strike over demands

Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) The 460 octroi agents from all the five octroi points in the city have threatened to go on strike, if the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) does not fulfil their demands within eight days. Speaking at a news conference here today, the Chairman of the Mumbai Octroi Agents Federation Suhash Nandodkar said the Federation has demanded that the seized vehicles should be let off within eight hours' time. Their other demands including checking of vehicles at the octroi.....
