Seven members of Pardhi dacoit gang arrested

Korba, Chhattisgarh, Oct 8 (UNI) Seven members of dreaded Pardhi dacoit gang were arrested from Bhimsenia forest in Pali area in this district last evening, police said.

On a tip-off that seven armed people were roaming in forest, a police team cordoned off the area and nabbed the bandits. During interrogation, the arrested admitted to having links with the Pardhi gang.

Pardhi gang had committed several crimes like loot and dacoity.

Some of its member were arrested in Bilaspur recently.

The criminals used to move about as mobile vendors of wristwatches. Police have seized rods, sticks, etc from them.

The bandits would struck somewhere if police had not arrested them.

MP HC issues notice to Information Commissioner

Jabalpur, Oct 8 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notice to the Information Commissioner on a petition over dispute between the Lokayukta and the CIC over area of jurisdiction. Hearing a petition by Special Police Establishment, a single-member bench of Justice A K Srivastava issued notices to the Information Commissioner, Sehore-resident accused Ramnarayan Rathore and advocate Prakash Uppadhyay. Kolkata Police and Ceat jointly organise safety awareness campaign

Kolkata, Oct 8 (UNI) Leading tyre manufacturer Ceat Limited, in association with Kolkata Police, organised a road safety awareness campaign here today with a view to averting accidents prior to the coming Durga Puja festival. Vengsarkar warns senior players

New Delhi, Oct. 6 2007 : Dilip Vengsarkar, chairman of the selectors for team India has warned the senior players following the team's second consecutive defeat to Australia in the seven-match series. Vengsarkar today issued an ultimatum to players saying no one could take their position in the Indian cricket team for granted.
